We attended these events because they represent many of our company's goals. From learning more about our industry to connecting with our employees in different places, we did our best to dive into each of these events with the objective of learning something new.
Startup World Cup Regional Competition
Location and Date: Innovation Depot, Birmingham, AL – September 4, 2024
- 10 startups pitched their innovative ideas in a 3-minute presentation followed by a 2-minute Q&A.

SIBF Summit

- Welcome Remarks & Distinguished Speaker Series Keynote by Tom Friedman: During this keynote, he discussed society, business, and the current state of the world. His insights were unique regarding what we need to keep in mind about the world in which we do business.
- Economic Resilience: Leading Through Global Shifts and Uncertainties, a keynote by Rana Foroohar: During this keynote, we dove further into how global shifts affect the economies of our businesses.
- Innovation with Integrity: Lessons in Responsible AI by Igor Jablokov: As a tech company, this keynote was especially relevant and helped us focus on the most important aspects of using AI: security and responsibility.
The Society of International Business Fellows (SIBF) is a global network of C-level executives and senior leaders in 65 countries. Our members share a keen interest in international business, geopolitics, and global trends. SIBF is an organization of top executives, entrepreneurs, and professionals that fits all levels of success. Membership opens your business to innovative learning, new pathways, and strategies for navigating the shrinking globe to create new business ventures.
The SIBF summit is an opportunity for members worldwide to connect and learn together. Graduates of the multiple leadership academies attend, as do core members of SIBF. This event offers a rare chance to connect with a diverse group of leaders who enable us to grow and connect on a large scale.
BBJ Women's Summit
Location and Date: Birmingham, Alabama, September 27
- One day-long event to bring together women in the Birmingham business space to connect and learn from one another
- Through multiple panels and keynote speakers, we focused on how we can support one another and continue to foster diversity in leadership and business

- During the morning keynote session, Lauren Sisler discussed the power of owning your story. She discussed how resilience, determination, and authenticity make you a better leader and a more capable person in your personal and professional life.
- The morning panel was all about How to turn mistakes and failures into successes. Four high-achieving female CEOs in Birmingham talked about their failures, why it is important to own up to them, and how they turned those failures into successes that helped them grow their careers and their businesses
- The power session of the day featured Tiffany Alexander, who spoke about embracing all parts of yourself to be the best version of yourself in and out of the office. She talked about how embracing her love of racing empowered her in more than just her business endeavors.
- The brunch panel featured a broad conversation about the ways being a woman in a leadership position has empowered them to be better leaders. They discussed how their womanhood enables them to be the type of leader they admire and helps them to set an example for younger generations.
- The final keynote speaker was Ami Richter, the founder of Lug. She spoke about the early challenges of starting her own company and how she overcame them. She also discussed the importance of perseverance in order to succeed.

Attending the BBJ's Women's Summit is always a pleasure. This year, our CEO had the opportunity to speak on the brunch panel. We so appreciate the BBJ placing value in women and what they add to the business community in Birmingham. Business can be tricky without this connectivity, and having a safe space for it is invaluable.
